This Privacy Policy explains what information FlowWrite (“we”, “us”) collects when you use the FlowWrite desktop, mobile, and web applications (the “Service”), why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. We aim to be honest and plain-spoken rather than legalistic. If anything here is unclear, write to us at flowwrite@u11.ca and we will explain.
FlowWrite is operated by U11 (the “Operator”), based in Canada. We are the data controller for personal information collected through the Service.
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, Google account ID, and profile photo URL. We do not receive your Google password. We store this information in our cloud database (Google Firestore) to identify your account.
We keep counters of how often you use the Service — for example, how many AI generations and dictated words you have used this week, this month, and all-time. We use these counters to enforce free-plan limits and show you statistics on your dashboard.
Reusable writing templates you create are stored in your account so they sync between your devices.
The text prompts you give FlowWrite — and the text it generates for you — are sent to an AI provider (see Section 4) to produce a response, then returned to your device. We do not, by default, retain a copy of the prompt or the response on our servers.
If you turn the optional “Save generation history” setting on inside the app, your generations are stored locally on your own device only. We never receive a copy. The setting is off by default.
When you use voice dictation, the audio your microphone captures is sent to a transcription provider (OpenAI Whisper), converted to text, and the text is returned to your device. We do not retain the audio. The transcription provider’s own data-handling policies apply (see Section 4).
When you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is handled by Stripe. We never see, receive or store your card number, CVV, or bank details. Stripe sends us only a customer ID, subscription status, plan tier, and renewal date so we can unlock paid features.
The Service may log standard diagnostic information such as the app version, operating system, and error reports. This helps us fix bugs.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it to train AI models. We do not show ads.
FlowWrite is built on top of a small number of trusted services. Each receives only what is needed to perform its function:
flowwrite.u11.ca and supporting endpoints. No system is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a security incident affecting your personal data, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
To exercise any of these rights, email flowwrite@u11.ca from the address tied to your account.
We retain your account and usage data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, unless a longer retention is required by law (for example, payment records that must be kept for tax purposes).
FlowWrite is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
FlowWrite operates from Canada and uses service providers that may process data in the United States, the European Union, and elsewhere. By using the Service you understand that your data may be processed outside your country of residence, under safeguards consistent with applicable data-transfer requirements.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top. Material changes will be highlighted with notice inside the app or by email. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
